Just been advised by her gt nephew that Dorothy is now in a nursing home as she is getting muddled and unable to care for herself on her own - not bad eh!!! Having been able to cope for her own needs up till now, albeit with warden to keep a watchful eye on her.

Dorothy entered Midland Bank in Nottingham when she was about 16 and was introduced to the bank by her uncle Baldwin Marshall - a Midland bank manager in Nottingham who dealt with the estates of some of the Grangers' and I expect Baldwins' around the 1900s. Dorothy was a pianist and had contact with the Baldwins' who emigrated to South Africa. Amazing how far she goes back. 1902 her birth date was generations ago was it not.

In another e-Mail from Ron Granger, dated November the 28th, 2012, he said:
Celia and I visitied Dorothy Baldwin \endash we attach 2 pictures of her taken in an old peoples home in Strelley, North West Nottingham, UK.
Dorothy is 109 and if she lives will be 110 on 8th February 2012. She is very deaf now and cannot even read large print writing \endash so sad. However whilst we were there she thoroughly enjoyed a cup of tea. I wondered if she was the oldest person in Nottingham and the Manager said not quite.
Dorothy never married, was given a secretary post in Midland bank in 1916 introduced by her uncle Mr Baldwin Marshall. She was an accomplished pianist and used to visit Baldwin relatives in South Africa.
AND, in a penultimate e-Mail from Ron, received on January the 1st 2014, he stated that:
Just heard today from nearest relative that Dorothy Baldwin, 2nd oldest recorded person in the UK, died today 1 Jan 14.
She caught an infection in her nursing home in Bulwell, Nottingham, and slept last 3 days and passed away peacefully in her sleep.
and a final e-Mail from Ron received on January 12, 2014, he advised that Dorothy's Funeral will be at Bramcote Crematorium, Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, at 12.45 pm on January the 18th, 2014.
