On Monday 1st February 1932, while living at 16 Duigan Street, Wanganui, New Zealand, Violetta, who had 'been ailing for some days' committed suicide after taking the life of Violet aged 5 and attempting to take the life of Joan aged 12. It was reported that Violetta's "nerves had been upset at the time of the Murchison earthquake, although she had always appeared to be normal."

Joan Delina COOPER was born somewhere around this [the Time her Mother travelled to New Zealand] time in either 1919 or early 1920. She was not listed on the ship's passenger records with her mother so she was either born enroute to New Zealand or not long after Violetta arrived.
