The marriage of Mr, B. Claydon, of the Education Department, Southern Nigeria (second son of Captain B.R. Claydon, of Deeping St James), and Miss Kitty Stanger (youngest daughter of the late Mr. J. and Mrs. Stanger, of Market Deeping), was celebrated at St Gutlac's Church by the Rev. W.W. Howard, Dean of Stamford. The bride was given away by her mother, and Mr Humphrey silver, of Stone Cross, Ashurst, Kent, was best man.
The bride was dressed in a cream embroidered cashmere robe, trimmed with Maltese lace (the gift of the bridegroom's mother), with a cream picture hat, trimmed with chiffon and marabout feathers (the gift of the bridegroom). The bridesmaids- Misses Nance and Mary Stanger, sister of the bride - were dressed in cream silk poplin with brown velvet, trimmed with brown chiffon and ostrich feathers. A reception was held at the residence of the bride's mother, after which the happy pair left for London en route for the South of England, where the honeymoon is being spent. There were many presents.

General Notes: In a Document created by Robert Alderman, and received from Joyce [Pickering] Trousdale in early October, 2013, Robert states:

There were many presents.

Noted events in her life were:

• Occupation: a Dressmaker, 1901, Market Deeping Lincolnshire England.

Children from this marriage were:

7 M    i. Cecil Humphrey Ben CLAYDON [100767] was born in May 1910 in Deeping St James Lincolnshire England and died in Apr 1984 in Enfield Middlesex England at age 73.

General Notes: In a Document created by Robert Alderman, and received from Joyce [Pickering] Trousdale in early October, 2013, Robert states:
Cecil Humphrey Ben Claydon was born in Deeping St James in May 1910; was living in Market Deeping at the time of the 1911 census; was living in London in the 1930s (probably unmarried); sailed for Kenya ("intending to stay in Kenya" according to the note on his passage) in 1948 (when aged about 38); and he clearly returned to the UK at some stage because his death was registered in Enfield in April 1984.
Robert goes on to ask whether Cecil had a Family in Kenya?

+ 8 F    ii. Katherine Mary CLAYDON [100958] was born in 1913 in Bourne Lincolnshire England and died on 16 Jul 1992 in Bournemouth Dorset England at age 79.

9 F    iii. Marianne Ruth CLAYDON [100768] was born on 22 Dec 1921 in Edmonton Middlesex England and died in Oct 1985 in Surrey England at age 63.

General Notes: In a Document created by Robert Alderman, and received from Joyce [Pickering] Trousdale in early October, 2013, Robert states:
Marianne Ruth Claydon, (1921-1985) lived with her widowed mother at The Croft, Brackendale Lane, Winchmore Hill, until her marriage to John Battershell in 1957 (when she would have been 35). There is no sign of a Batthershell/Claydon birth thereafter and they then appear to have divorced in the mid-1960s. After the divorce Marianne does not remarry and her death is registered in Surrey in October 1985. It would seem very likely indeed that she had no child by John Batthershell, who appears to be living with his second wife (Linda N Battershell nee Hutcherson) in a 2013 address in Teignmouth.

6. Ernest CLAYDON [100769] (Benjamin Robert (Capt.)1) was born circa 1895 in Deeping St James Lincolnshire England.

Ernest married Audrey TYRRELL [100968] in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.

The child from this marriage was:

+ 10 F    i. Patricia CLAYDON [100963] .
