27. James CULPIN [88937] (Charles22, Richard13, Charles5, Richard4, Charles3, Charles2, Richard1) was born on 14 Nov 1813 in St Ives Huntingdonshire England and died in 1879 at age 66.

General Notes: In John Donovan's File received in April 2010, he has the Comment:
Ian Culpin has him as Currier Journeyman
--> in transcripts 1841 census put down as Gilpen instead of Culpin.

At 1841 census living "near the pond" at Hemingford Grey, St Ives with his parents & siblings. So..where is his wife?? Not married till after 1841? So his children all younger?

At 1851 census living at Crown Walk, St Ives with wife & family.

At the 1861 census living in Stevenage with wife, daughters Elizabeth, Fanny & Harriet, sons Benjamin & Henry and granddaughter Emily who is 10 months. Who's daughter was Emily?? Illegitimate daughter to Elizabeth or Fanny? Emily was born where they lived, and still an infant. None of the others present where old enough.

At the 1871 census living in Godmanchester with wife Harriett, daughter Harriett, son James and still: granddaughter Emily (1860, Stevenage).

His wife is a widow at the 1881 census, so James must have died between 1871 and 1881.--> in transcripts 1841 census put down as Gilpen instead of Culpin.
