34. 5th Earl William de FERRERS of Derby [81899] (William of Derby (4th Earl)²⁶, William of Derby (3rd Earl)²⁰, Robert 2nd Earl of Derby (Sir)¹⁴, Robert of Derby (1st Earl)⁶, Henry of Ferrières-Saint-Hilaire and Chambray (Sir)², Walkelin de Ferrières-Saint-Hilaire (Seigneur)¹) was born about 1193 in Ferrers Derby Derbyshire England and died on 28 Mar 1254 in Evington Leicestershire England aged about 61.

General Notes: Wikipedia says of William,
In 1230 he accompanied King Henry III to France and attended Parliament in London in the same year. Like his father, he suffered from gout from youth and after the 1230s took little part in public affairs, travelling always in a litter. He was accidentally thrown from his litter into the River Great Ouse while crossing a bridge at St Neots in Huntingdonshire and, although he escaped death, never recovered from the effects of the accident. He succeeded to the title of his father in 1247, but only lived another seven years, dying on 28 March 1254.

William married Countess Sibyl MARSHALL of Derby [122911]. Sibyl was born in 1209 in Pembroke Pembrokeshire Wales, died on 27 Apr 1245 in Ashbourne Derbyshire England at age 36, and was buried in Tintern Abbey Monmouthshire Wales.

   45    i. Agnes "the Elder" de FERRERS [123536] was born about 1222 in Tutbury Staffordshire England and died on 11 May 1290 in Scarborough Yorkshire England aged about 68.

   46    ii. Isabella de FERRERS [123537] was born in 1226 in Derbyshire England and died before 26 Nov 1260 in Devon England.

   47    iii. Matilda de FERRERS [123538] was born about 1228 in Derby Derbyshire England and died on 12 Mar 1298 in Evington Leicestershire England aged about 70.

+ 48    iv. Lady Sibyl de FERRERS [123539] was born in 1230 in Ferrers Derby Derbyshire England and died on 5 Oct 1273 in England at age 43.

William next married Countess Margaret de QUINCY of Derby [81900]. Margaret was born in 1218 and died on 12 Mar 1280 at age 62.

General Notes: In a Document received from Marigold [Roberts] Potter in April 2021, she names her as Eleanor.

Robert de STAFFORD [122292] (Lady Petronille de FERRERS of Derby³³, William of Derby (3rd Earl)²⁰, Robert 2nd Earl of Derby (Sir)¹⁴, Robert of Derby (1st Earl)⁶, Henry of Ferrières-Saint-Hilaire and Chambray (Sir)², Walkelin de Ferrières-Saint-Hilaire (Seigneur)¹) was born about 1220 in Stafford Castle Staffordshire England and died on 2 Apr 1261 in Stafford Staffordshire England aged about 41.

Robert married Anne de LANGLEY [122294].

Robert next married Alice CORBET [122293]. Alice was born about 1225 in Caus Shropshire England and died about 1267 in Shropshire England aged about 42.
