General Notes: Wikipedia says of Etienne Henri [English Stephen Henry],
Stephen Henry (in French, Étienne Henri, in Medieval French, Estienne Henri; c. 1045 \endash 19 May 1102), Count of Blois and Count of Chartres, was the son of Theobald III, count of Blois, and Gersent of Le Mans.[1][2]

In 1089, upon the death of his father, he became the Count of Blois and Chartres, although Theobald had given him the administration of those holdings in 1074. He was the father of Stephen of England.

Count Stephen was one of the leaders of the First Crusade, leading one of the major armies of the crusade and often writing enthusiastic letters to his wife Adela of Normandy about the crusade's progress.[3] Stephen was the head of the army council at the siege of Nicaea in 1097.[4] He returned home in 1098 during the lengthy siege of Antioch, fleeing the battlefield, without having fulfilled his crusading vow to forge a way to Jerusalem.[5] He was pressured by Adela into making a second pilgrimage, and joined the subsequent Crusade of 1101 in the company of others who had also returned home prematurely. In 1102, Stephen was killed at the Second Battle of Ramla at the age of fifty-seven.

Noted events in his life were:

• Death: at the 2nd Battle of Ramleh, 19 May 1102, Ramleh Palestine.

Etienne married Princess Of England Adele de NORMANDIE [35139]. Adele was born in 1067 in Normandy France, died on 8 Mar 1135 in Marsilly Aquitane France at age 68, and was buried in Caen Calvadon Normandy France. Another name for Adele was Alice.

General Notes: Wikipedia says of Adele, amongst other Things,
Adela of Normandy, of Blois, or of England (c. 1067 \endash 8 March 1137),[1] also known as Saint Adela in Roman Catholicism,[2] was a daughter of William the Conqueror and Matilda of Flanders who later became the countess of Blois, Chartres, and Meaux by marriage to Stephen II of Blois. Her husband greatly benefited from the increased social status and prestige that came with such a marriage. She brought with her not only her bloodline, but a dowry of money and other movable goods from the prodigious store of Anglo-Norman wealth. She was regent of Blois during the absence of her spouse in 1096\endash 1100 and 1101\endash 02, and during the minority of her son from 1102 until 1120.[3] Adela was the mother of King Stephen of England and Bishop Henry of Winchester.
