General Notes: Reginald Foster came to America in one of the vessels embargoed by King Charles I, accompanied by his wife, Judith, five sons and two daughters, and settled in Ipswich, Mass., about the year 1638, and was one of the earliest inhabitants of that town. His English ancestry, beginning with his father, was as follows: Thomas, Cuthbert, Sir Thomas, Sir Thomas, Sir Thomas, Sir Thomas, Sir Thomas, Sir William, Sir Richard, Sir Reginald, Sir Hugo, and Sir Richard. A sister of Sir Richard, named Matilda or Maude, was the wife of William I, the Conqueror, King of England. From Sir Richard Forester sprung the Blake Foresters of Ashfield and Knockmoy Abbey, County of Galway, and Inchorey Castle, County of Clare; also, the Foresters of Etherston and Bamborough Castle on Northumberland, who are so vividly described in the historical novel, "Dorothy Forster", by Sir Walter Besant, the celebrated English novelist.

Information extracted from "The History of Canterbury, NH 1727-1912." The book came in two volumes and was compiled by James O. Lyford, whose relatives came from there. The book was published in 1912 by The Rumford Press. It is available for viewing at the New York Public Library; and, in part says:
Reginold Foster came to America in one of the vessels embargoes by King Charles I, accompanied by his wife, Judith, five sons and 2 daughters, settled in Ipswich, Mass around 1638 as one of the earliest inhabitants of the town. His will was proved Jun 9, 1681. Children were all born in England between 1618 and 1636. Each child had families from nine to 14 children, many of whom settled in Ipswich, Boxford, Andover and other nearby towns in Mass. Many have attained national distinction (US Senator Lafayette Sabine Foster of Conn and Senator Addison G. Foster of Washington.)
Although it is thought that Reginald settled in Ipswich around 1638, his name doesn't appear in town records until 1652, when he and Thomas Clark constructed a canal adjoining the Chebacco River. At his death, Reginald's estate was valued at 744 Pounds, 16 Shilling. Reginald owned Plum and Hog Islands, which remained in the family for several generations.

General Notes: In a Document received from Patrick de Meulemeester in March 2021, he included the following:
The direct ancestry of Thomas Forster of Walthamstow is problematic because many records of the population of London at that time were destroyed during the Second World War but it is probable that he is the son of Thomas Forster 1659-1725.
Moreover, it is certain that Thomas Forster of Walthamstow is part of the descendants of the famous Forster dynasty of Bamburgh and Adderstone (Etherston) and here is what is taken up in the 'Dictionary of the Landed Gentry' written in 1847 by John Burke, renowned historian.
'The family Forster of Etherston is of great antiquity in Northumberland, frequently holding offices high-sheriff and member for the county. Sir John Forster, Knt. Banneret of Bambrough Abbey, a general in the army of Queen Elisabeth was Lord of the Warden of the Middel Marches and Governor of Bamburgh castle.
His daughter Julian married Francis Russell son of the second Earl of Bedford and one of the earliest baronetcies was conferred on his grandson Claudius in 1619 who died without issue. His brother John obtained the grant of Bamburgh castle forfeited by Thomas Forster whose adherence to the cause of the Stuarts induced him to join the rebellion of 1715.
Etherston (Adderstone) still continues as the family seat.
In a subsequent Document received from Patrick de Meulemeester in early June 2021, he added:
A descendant of a branch of this border line, Thomas Forster (of Walthamstow) born on 6 March 1698 and married to Dorothy Furly, grand-daughter of Benjamin Furly, the friend and correspondent of John Locke and by her (who was born, 21 June 1710 and died, the 26 August 1763 had issue as, Edward Forster the Elder, Thomas Furly Forster, Benjamin Forster and Richard Forster.
