John died 1 Dec 1834, Southend [Southend Hall, Lewisham] and was son of Rev John FORSTER Rector of Elton, Durham and Walsoken, and he married Elizabeth d 25 Jan 1837 daughter of Rev Ralph DRAKE-BROCKMAN of Beachborough in Kent. John's grandson Major John FORSTER of Exbury House, Hampshire was father of Henry William, Lord FORSTER of Lepe, created 12 Dec 1919, MP for Bermondsey, 1892 \endash 1918 and for Bromley 1918-19, and Governor General of Australia 1920-25 who donated Forster Memorial Park in Downham to Lewisham Council in 1922. He married Rachel, daughter of 1^st Lord MONTAGU of Beaulieu, Hampshire and one daughter was the mother of Michael PITT-RIVERS and the other married the uncle of Eric LUBBOCK, Lord AVEBURY.

Here is what Thomas Ignatius Forster wrote about his father and the origins of his family in his book 'Book of My Life, My Books and My Thoughts: Philosophical Opuscule'
My father, Thomas Furly Forster, was a gentleman of a very old family from Normandy, a family that had long lived near the borders of Scotland.
My ancestors, the Forsters of Bamborough, Northumberland, received their weapons in the famous battles of Cressy(Crecy) and Azincourt (Agincourt).
But having distinguished themselves in the civil war of 1715, as supporters of the Catholic dynasty of the STUARTS, they were stripped of their estates.
As supporters, it was mainly General Thomas Forster (1638-1738) who rallied the cause of this rebellion and this caused him to lose all his rights and properties which he had to cede to his brother John FORSTER.
AND, in a Document received from Patrick de Meulemeester in June 2021, he stated that,
Sir Thomas was one of the first members of the LINNEAN Society and with his brother Benjamin Meggot Forster, he joined the 'Anti-Slavery Society' in 1823.
He had following botanists as friends, Sir James Edward Smith, Sir Joseph Banks, Jonas Dryander, James Dickson, Robert Brown and Adam Afzelius.
