Dorothea married Thomas SMYTHE Bishop of Limerick [96488] [MRIN: 32227]. Thomas was born in 1654 and died in 1725 at age 71.

Further information I have about Rev. Thomas Smyth is:- of Dundrum, Co. Down; but the family originally came from Rosedale Abbey in Yorks. Became Bishop of Limerick in 1695. A Sizar at TCD from 1669; Scholar in 1673; BA in 1674; Fellow in 1676. Became Vice-Chancellor of TCD in 1714. His Will was proved in 1725; in which he left lands in Co. Tipperary to his son John. He was buried, with his wife, in St. Minchin's, Limerick. (from the publication now on the Internet, 'Clogher Clergy and Parishes' by Rev. James Leslie, MA, in 1920 NB. Information about two further children may be found in this Record; including a suggestion that one son may have died ahead of his father's Will and is not referred to elsewhere.

According to thepeerage.com Rev.Thomas Smyth married twice. He had four children by his first wife (anon) and a further four with Dorothea. James is Thomas and Dorothea's eldest child.
