General Notes: In a de Lathom File received from Charles s Lewis in January 2011, he included the following:
Gilbert was murdered in 1275 by unknown malefactors. He left four infant daughters as co-heirs. they became the wards of Sir WIlliam Boteler, Baron of Warrington. When they came of age Sir WIlliam granted their marriages to Hugh de Hindley, who married them to his own four sons. When the daughters married Culcheth Manor was quartered each daughter bringing their quarter to the marriage. The husband changed their surnames to reflect which quarter they received.
