General Notes: "Betty" SPENDER believes that Mary Dent Smith's (nee Stanger) Mother lived at Wisbech. There may be a connection with "Strawberry Hall", which seems to figure prominently in the "History of the Smiths" H.U.SMITH, from information from "Betty" SPENDER in her letter of July 7, 1988. ...

William was born about 1765 in Tydd St Mary Lincolnshire England, died on 26 Apr 1822 in Tydd St Mary Lincolnshire England aged about 57, and was buried about Apr 1822 in Fleet Baptist Chapel Fleet Hargate Lincolnshire England.

General Notes: William was a Farmer of Tydd St.Mary, in Lincs. from Geoffrey Stanger, 8/8/1989.
"Betty" Spender's letter of Jul. 30, 1988, mentions the Gravestone of William in Fleet Hargate Baptist Churchyard as follows: William Stanger late of Tydd St.Mary's died April 26th, 1822, in the 57th year of his age. Also: Mary his Wife, of Wisbech, age 95 died on Aug. 15, 1865. Also: William Stanger, M.D. Son, who died Mar. 11th, 1857 in Natal, South Africa. ...
Geoffrey Stanger, in his letter of December 6, 1989 states that William was probably born and lived at Strawberry Hall in Tydd St.Mary. However when his Father died, his Brother John took Strawberry Hall, while William lived at Tydd Gote, a hamlet in the Parish of Tydd St.Mary. (Means 'Sluice')

General Notes: Geoffrey Stanger, in his letter, rec'd, Aug. 8, 1989, gives details of the Inscription on Hannah's Grave. She is buried in the Tomb of John and Mary Dent Smith, in the Station Road Cemetery in March. A description of the Tomb can be found in John's Notes. the Inscription reads as follows: On the West Gable End:
