The Denne & Collard Families;
and related Families
"Our" Denne and Collard Families originated in East Kent; and lived there for 30 Generations. There are still Collards living in Kent.
They commence with the
Denne Family, the Family of Robertus de Den, who was Pencerna [Butler, Keeper of the Wardrobe?, etc.] to Edward III [the Confessor]. Robertus owned Lands in Kent, Sussex and Normandy.
The Denne Family Information was orginally provided by Anthony Armitage Bishop. It was considerably expanded in 2004-05 by Janet Denne, here in Sydney; and from a File provided by Sarah Thursby McFadden in November 2005, we have added another 250 Individuals. Following that Susan [Brice] Jones added further Information in 2006, Harry Lee added a large Group of Denne Family People in a File received in August 2008 and Anthony Bishop sent his Tree about the same time adding a further 200 odd Denne[s] to the Family. There are presently over 8000 Denne Family Members and related Families on the Denne Family WebPages.
The Denne Family have again been updated on August the 24th, 2009.
and again on April the 25th, 2011.
And, in March 2017, after considerable Research by Doug Bateman, Sue [Brice] Jones, Jane Elizabeth Marshall and Neil Sladden
have added considerably to the Information
we have on the Collard, Denne and related Families.
The UK Genealogy Archives have placed the Visitation of Kent, 1619-1621 on the Web. It can be viewed at http://www.uk-genealogy.org.uk/england/Kent/visitation/index.html. The Denne Family are to be found on Pages 99 and 100. You will see the Page Numbers at the foot of the Page.
Another WebSite of great interest is that of Robert Sewell, who has established a very large WebSite of Genealogy and the early History of a considerable number of Families, including the Denne Family. NOTE: This is a wonderful WebSite and well worth your spending some time there; but be warned, you will need a lot of time.
In 2009, as a result of a very large Package of Denne, Collard and associated Family Information put together by Harry Lee, we have established a second Denne Family Line, that of William Denne, circa 1765. Further Research by Susan [Brice] Jones has enhanced this Family Line; but as yet we cannot connect William to the main Denne Family Line, although his Family do connect to the Collard Family when Olga Caroline P Collard married Wlliam's G-G-Grandson, Alan Ralph. FURTHER Research by Sue has pushed this Family back another 2 Generations to an unknown Denne, circa 1680, married to a Mary Unknown, living in Walmer.
This Denne Family has been updated on January 29, 2012, after Information from Sue [Brice] Jones.
In July and August, 2010, as a result of an extensive review of the Denne Family Data, the Family of William Crispe was added. John Crispe married Avice Denne. All the Crispe Family Information is from the Visitation of Kent; and few Dates are available. They were recorded in 1619-1621, so are all of or prior to that Time.
The Denne Family married into the Collard Family in a big way late in the 16th Century. The Collard Family have also been long time Residents of East Kent, our earliest, Ambrose being born in St Nicholas at Wade in 1630. They married into the Denne Family soon after.

Similarly to the William Collard and Catherine Grey Family above, we cannot as yet link them to our principal Collard Family.

Also marrying into the Collard Family we have the Families of John Hague and Daniel Wilbourne. Daniel's Descendants progressively changed their Names from Wilbourne to Wyborne and finally Wyborn.
