The Times October 12th 1909 page 11 column B

Engineer Lieutenant Robertson and Miss Stanger

At Trinity Church Hampstead yesterday afternoon, the wedding took place of Engineer Lieutenant F Leslie Robertson, R.N., and Miss Helen Yorke Stanger, daughter of Mr. H.Y.Stanger,K.P.,M.P. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a dress of ivory satin mousseline with silver bugle insertion, and she was attended by three bridesmaids, Miss Maud Stanger (her sister), Miss Stanger (her cousin), and Miss F. Robertson (sister of the bridegroom). They wore dresses of pale blue crepe de chine and large mole coloured hats trimmed with pale blue. Mr Guy Robertson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.

A further eMail from Elizabeth Lee Pugh, dated September the 26th said:

William Stanger (Henry Yorke's older brother) had a daughter Ethel Mary born in 1886. I assume she was the other bridesmaid for Helen. Ethel, being born SQ 1886 was the "senior" daughter of that generation and thus, by the accepted social ettiquette of the time would have been addressed as just Miss - with no given names if within a group of the same family.

Helen married Lieut. Frederick Leslie ROBERTSON RN [42880] [MRIN: 15455], son of Frederick Freer Leslie ROBERTSON [42881] and Louisa Marion BAKER [92155], on 11 Oct 1909 in Trinity Church Hampstead London England. Frederick was born on 5 Sep 1879 in Yorkshire England and died on 23 Dec 1923 in Chatham Kent England at age 44.

General Notes: In an e-Mail received from Helen [Haines] Bones in July 2011, she stated:
When my grandfather was a year old, his father Fred got overworked and was recommended a sea voyage, so took Louisa Marion and the child to Australia on the "SS Sheerness", then back on the "SS Shannon". I have a long and interesting letter from Louisa Marion to her mother, describing the trip. On the return journey another child (my mother's Aunt Marie) was born at seven months. I have a wonderful birth certificate from the "Marine Register Book". The ship was at "Latitude 29 degrees 43 south, Longitude 23 degrees 21 west", whereever that may be! They left England at the beginning of September 1880, and Aunt Marie was born on the 6th March 1881, so Louisa must have been in the very early stages of pregnancy when they left.

Noted events in his life were:

• Residence at Death: Royal Naval Barracks, 23 Dec 1923, Chatham Kent England.

Children from this marriage were:

+ 101 F    i. Elizabeth ROBERTSON [83357] was born on 7 Jul 1910 in Battersea Surrey England and died on 22 Jul 1997 in Aldringham Suffolk England at age 87.

Maud married Thomas DAVIES [83352] [MRIN: 27638] 3 Qtr 1924 in Middlesex England.
