2. William JOHNSON [53477] (Joseph¹) was born on 21 Jun 1852 in South Kyme Lincolnshire England and died in Jul 1937 at age 85.

General Notes: In a File received from Mark Ward in April 2008, he stated:
He worked as a steam engineer on various farms in the South Kyme area. He ran a large steam engine which was used to run the threshing machine and to pump water off the land to keep it from flooding in the wet seasons, as most of the land was below sea level at high tide and during bad storms. So the water was pumped off the land into hand dug canals which took it back to the sea.
He worked until almost 75 years of age.
They then bought a smalll holding with a house and garden and retired at Kirton Holme near Boston, Lincolshire, UK
Grandad Johnson was very fond of gardening. He loved his flowers which he grew in abundance especially sweet peas.

William married Selina Rebecca CROW [53478] [MRIN: 19038], daughter of John CROW [54397] and Sarah CLAYTON [54398]. Selina was born on 04 Mar 1862 in Lincoln Lincolnshire England.

   4 F    ii. Gertrude Sarah JOHNSON [54501] was born about 1889 and died in Sep 1889 in Lincolnshire England.

+ 5 M    iii. Joseph Edward JOHNSON [53423] was born about 1890 in Heckington Lincolnshire England and died in Canada.

   6 M    iv. John William JOHNSON [54500] .

   7 M    v. George William JOHNSON [54502] was born about 1894 in Great Hale Lincolnshire England and died in 1968 aged about 74.

George married Viola JOINES [54503] [MRIN: 19312].

   8 M    vi. George John Henry JOHNSON [54504] was born about 1896 in Great Hale Lincolnshire England and died in 1917 aged about 21.

+ 9 F    vii. Dorothy JOHNSON [54498] was born about 1901 in Pinchbeck Lincolnshire England.

+ 10 M    viii. Arthur Thomas JOHNSON [54505] was born in 1903 and died in 1967 at age 64.
