He married an English lady of great beauty who came to Scotland with Princess Margaret Aethling of England. Sir John possessed Royal powers during that reign. One son, Gregor, became Bishop of Dunkeld and Lord Chancellor of Scotland. His other son Malcolm succeeded him as Lord MacGregor.
