General Notes:Andrew rode a pony just over 3 miles to Mona Vale Primary School, then in1938 he went to St Andrew's College in Christchurch. His father was not well, so he came home after 2 years to help on the farm.

Andrew was on final leave when the war finished. Andrew met Nan MURPHY about this time, and they were married in 1947 in the St Columba Presbyterian Church in Fairlie. Nan was the daughter of Mr & Mrs R J Murphy who were farmers at "Nga Punawai", Fairlie.

Andrew farmed on the "Airdeens" farm in Albury until they retired a few years ago to Akaroa. Andrew and Nan both played golf at the Mt Nessing Golf Club where Andrew is now a Life Member, and also of the NZ Eagles Golfing Society.

Jock was in the Air Force in W.W.2 and worked on Catalinas in Fiji. When he came back to NZ he worked as a Stock Buyer in Martinborough and saved enough money to buy his farm in 1948. He worked hard to get his farm and was upset that he could not get a rehab. loan from the Government for his service in the war.

Jock's farm was a Stud farm for sheep and cattle, at Stanway, about 13 miles from Feilding. Jock enjoyed farm life, A. & P. shows, and he won several medals with his animals.
