The Aylwood connections [with the McCaskill Family] came through two sisters marrying two McCaskill brothers, John (Jack) and Malcolm. My grandfather, Duncan Reid, was a first cousin of these McCaskills and was raised in their family from one month of age (when his mother died). Jack was about a year older than my grandfather. They did go shearing etc in NSW together, and Jack was Duncan's best man at his wedding. My mother still has a photo album given to her mother, Eleanor Lyle, by Malcolm McCaskill in 1901.
