45. Richard PEDLEY [84018] (Thomas²⁷, John⁷, Richard², Philip¹) was born Cir. 1801 in Haslington Cheshire England, was baptised in 1823 in Wheelock Heath Cheshire England, and died on 6 Aug 1871 in Haslington Cheshire England aged about 70.

A building erected in 1704 at Wheelock Heath had been used by four 'Presbyterian' ministers, and had then been closed. Thomas Pedley, a farmer nearby, reopened it in 1790 and preached for two years. Then he called in Cornelius Gregory who maintained Baptist services for 24 years until he was 80 years old.
At Wheelock Heath David Graythorpe baptized Richard Pedley in 1823, and he with his two sisters formed the first Baptist chirch here.

This is slightly at odds with the "Wheelock Heath Baptist Church" history which makes no metion of Thomas Pedley but has (erroneously?) Richard Pedley as the grandson of Cornelius Gregory. It seems possible that Cornelius was the husband of Ann pedley as suggested by pedleyonline.
