3. James RIDDELL [112606] (Unknown2, Quintin1).
General Notes: In a Document received from Don MacArthur in October 2017, he stated,
Nisbet's Appendix treats of the family and quotes both the original charter of David I (Lawrie ESC no CCXXII) and a number of mortifications of lands to the Abbey of Melrose, which provide full, but slightly difficult to disentangle, details of family relationships. After these there is a gap until Quintin Riddel who seems to have flourished from 4th July 1421 when an inquest found him vested in the estate. His son evidently predeceased him and on 4 May
1471 James was found to be heir to Quintin, his grandfather.
Noted events in his life were:
• Inheritance: the Riddell Estate, 4 May 1471.
James married someone.
+ 4 M i. John RIDDELL [112605] .
