Joseph SIMMONDS [11669] (John², William¹) was born on 22 Apr 1819 in Coventry Warwickshire England, was baptised on 10 May 1819 in St Michael's Coventry Warwickshire England, died on 06 Aug 1889 in Waimea South Nelson Marlborough New Zealand at age 70, and was buried on 08 Aug 1889 in Spring Grove Cemetery Nelson Marlborough New Zealand.

General Notes: Born in Coventry, Warwickshire, England. He learnt the trade of Carpenter with his father, John, with whom he served an apprenticeship of 7 years, by which he was made, and sworn in, a Freeman of the City.

He was baptised at St Michael's Church, Coventry.

He married Frances Levina THACKER in 1840 at St John's Church (sometimes called Bablake Church), Coventry. First daughter, Fanny, born in Coventry in 1841, and 2nd, Ann Maria, in Nelson, NZ in 1842.

He sailed from Deal, England on 26 September 1841 on the barque 'Fifeshire' which was wrecked on the Fifeshire Rock going out of NelsonHarbour.

The date and baptism of the first 4 children, will be found registered in the Wesleyan Church, Nelson.
