1. Thomas STRINGER  was born in 1824 in Ireland, died on 23 Dec 1880 on the Vessel "Wellington" off the coast of West Africa at age 56, and was buried on 24 Dec 1880 at sea from the Vessel "Wellington".
General Notes: In an eMail, dated June the 20th, 2009, June Cameron said an Entry in the Diary of Thomas' Son, George, dated December the 24th, read as follows:
"Stormy day. Sad and desolate yet not alone I trust. One has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Funeral at 8 o'clock a.m. as they have to do these matters quickly at sea I suppose. Mr Angus conducted the service and the mortal body was committed to the deep with a blessed hope of resurrection into eternal life in latitude (left blank). Every kindness shown to us by all-may the affliction be sanctified to our souls everlasting good."
Thomas married Christina MANLEY , daughter of George MANLEY  and Jane TUKE , in 1852 in Kilbride Arklow Co. Wicklow Ireland. Christina was born in 1826, died on 29 Apr 1915 in Weston North Otago New Zealand at age 89, and was buried in Duntroon Cemetery Otago New Zealand.
