General Notes: Inscription on the plinth on the family plot in the King William's Town Cemetery reads:
"Sacred to the memory of James Weir, Margaret his wife and two sons, parents and brothers James W. Weir and of Samuel Stanger died August 1877 Amelia his wife died 1876 parents of Mercy A. Weir and of James Wilson Weir died 9th September 1909 aged 67 years........"

James married Mercy Amy STANGER [43041] [MRIN: 15533], daughter of Samuel STANGER [42992] and Amelia Sarah LOCKINGTON [42993]. Mercy was born 23 Mar 1837, died 23 Sep 1910 in King William's Town Eastern Cape South Africa at age 73, and was buried in King William's Town Cemetery Cape Colony South Africa.

   4 F    iii. Amy WEIR [43132] was born 09 Jul 1871 in King William's Town Eastern Cape South Africa, died 04 Jan 1959 in King William's Town Eastern Cape South Africa at age 87, and was buried in King William's Town Cemetery Cape Colony South Africa.

General Notes: Inscription on plinth:
"...and of Amy Weir born the 9tj July 1871 died 4th January 1959..."

Amy never married. Although her parents were Baptists it seems that in later life Amy and her sister Mercy Winifred were Presbyterians and left part of their estate to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in King William's Toiwn where they were born and lived during their lifetime.

   5 F    iv. Margaret Wilson WEIR [43133] was born 01 Oct 1872 in King William's Town Eastern Cape South Africa, died 17 Jun 1899 in King William's Town Eastern Cape South Africa at age 26, and was buried in King William's Town Cemetery Cape Colony South Africa.
