General Notes: In her Commentary on the Wise Family, Christina Williams says:
In 1872 whilst John was working as a private tutor in Battle, East Sussex, Rosetta [his second Wife] appeared in court charged with hitting him three times whilst she was drunk and fined five pounds.
John started to go blind so Rosetta sent him back to live with Ann, Isabella and Eleanor who by this time were living in London. He died on the 12^th January 1888 at 35 Boscombe Road, Shepherds Bush with his daughter Ann at his side.
