General Notes: In an attachment to an email, dated February 19, 2003, Sylvia Robertson said:

"Was born in Glamorgan, Cardiff, Wales. Came out to NZ as a 3 yr old in the ship 'Leicester' in 1877 and landed at Petone Beach.

Was a loving grandmother and very artistic. Her home was 'home' to many, and the dining table was enormous and often full.

She was a handsome woman, always well dressed in tailor-made suits, and had a lovely fresh comlexion and pretty curly hair. She liked "red" colour, and she had quite a lot of red china, cups, saucers, plates and vases. She had cream curtains with quaint Dutch figures embroidered on the hems. She and John were no gardeners but the flower beds produced perennials, roses bloomed on the verandah rails, and sweetpeas climbed up the wall towards the upstairs bedrooms. Nasturtiums and blackberries rambled over an old wooden wall.

Edith Mary DAVEY died after a gall bladder operation, and is buried in Karori Cemetery, Wellington. (Area 01, Block A, Row 08, Plot 013)"
