6. John ANNABELL [2896] (Joseph², Joseph¹) was born 19 Nov 1846 in Derbyshire England, died 14 May 1919 in Wahganui Wellington New Zealand at age 72, and was buried in Aramoho Cemetery Wahganui Wellington New Zealand.

General Notes:Born in Derbyshire, England.

Surveyor & explorer in Wanganui.
He became the Government Surveyor as well as developing his own private practice. He would be away 6 months at a time with his surveyors and chain men.

In 1876 in Wanganui, he married Jane (Jinney) BRAITHWAITE.
They had 12 children.

He died on 14 May 1919 aged 73 yrs in Wanganui, and was buried on 16 Mayat Aramoho Cemetery, Wanganui.
(Block A Row 8 Plot 422). He died 2 days after his son, Norman, returned from the war.

Jinney (Jane) died in 1924 aged 68, buried on 2 June aged 68 years in Aramoho Cemetery, Wanganui, with her husband.

Headstone (sighted 8/1/2003):
"In Loving Memory of John, the beloved husband of Jane ANNABELL who fell asleep 14th May 1919, aged 73 years. Sleep on dear father and take thy rest. God called thee home, He thought it best.

Also Jane, dearly beloved wife of above, died 31st May 1924 aged 67 yrs."

Below, on another stone: "Here we suffer grief and pain, Here we meet to part again. In heaven we part no more."

John married Jane BRAITHWAITE [2897] [MRIN: 227], daughter of Constantine John BRAITHWAITE [15360] and Christina MACKIE [15361], 13 Apr 1876 in Wahganui Wellington New Zealand. Jane was born in 1857 in Ballarat Colony of Victoria, died 31 May 1924 in Wahganui Wellington New Zealand at age 67, and was buried 02 Jun 1924 in Aramoho Cemetery Wahganui Wellington New Zealand. Another name for Jane was Jinney.
