Alan Laurence Malyon ALLAN [10274] (David Malyon ALLAN43, Evelyn Matilda BLYTH26, William Henry12, William Edward2, John1) was born on 23 Dec 1920 in Auckland Auckland New Zealand, died on 29 Nov 1979 in Mount Erebus Antarctica at age 58, and was buried on 19 Dec 1979 in Purewa Crematorium Auckland New Zealand. The cause of his death was Aircraft crash.
General Notes: Known as 'Malyon' - born in Auckland.
Commander Alan Malyon ALLAN died in 1979 aged 58 in the Mt Erebus crash.This was 28 or 29 November 1979 - Flight 901. (257 died)
Also died his daughter, Jane Philippa ALLAN aged 17 - both cremated.
Both lived at Farndon House, Clive, Hawkes Bay (on Purewa Cremations fiche)
The Commander's wife, Marjorie Townley ALLAN, was also on board.
Her death is in 1980 fiche, aged 56, in Lower Hutt.

Colenso High School informs me (March 2002) that Commander ALLAN taught at the school from 1963 - 79. Michael attended the school in 1979, then went on to University.
Alan married Marjorie Townley DIXON [10278] [MRIN: 4725] on 20 Nov 1944. Marjorie was born in 1924 in England and died in 1980 in Lower Hutt Wellington New Zealand at age 56. The cause of her death was Aircraft crash.
General Notes: Marjorie was in the Mt Erebus plane disaster with husband and daughter in 1979.
Her death is not recorded until 1980 in Lower Hutt, whereas father and daughter were cremated and buried in Purewa Cemetery, Auckland.
