5. Phillip Parker KING [19922] (Phillip Gidley (Governor)2, Phillip1) was born 4Qtr 1791 in Norfolk Island Colony of New South Wales and died in 1856 at age 65.

Admin / Biog Notes : Phillip Parker King, 1791-1856, the only son of Philip Gidley and Anna Josepha King, was born on Norfolk Island and entered the Navy in 1807. After service on various ships he was appointed a lieutenant, and in 1817 he returned to New South Wales where he surveyed the coast in four voyages. He was promoted to commander and returned to England in 1822. In 1825 he took command of H.M.S. Adventure which, with H.M.S. Beagle, charted the coasts of South America from 1826 to 1830. Returning to New South Wales in 1832 he settled near St Marys. He was promoted to the rank of rear-admiral in 1855 and died in 1856.
