4. Michael RICART [47965] was born on 4 Apr 1733 in France and died on 9 Feb 1798 in London Middlesex England at age 64. Another name for Michael was Michael RICKARDS.

General Notes: a) One theory as to the origin of Michael Rickards is that he was a Huguenot fugitive from France, born Michel Ricart, but changing his name upon marriage to Mary Alder at St Georges Church, Hanover Square, St Marylebone, .London.
b) Living in Palermo, Sicily today is Riccardo Rickards (born around 1950), son of Tullio , whose origins go back to the English Consulate General of Messina - Joseph (Giuseppe) Rickards of the 19^th Century. Riccardo's grandfather (also named Riccardo) had three brothers, all of whom were killed in the Messina earthquake of 1908. Riccardo has a son Giorgio, born in 1998. We are still trying to confirm the link..

George married Mary Ann MOREL [47968] on 24 Nov 1790 in St George's Hanover Square London England. Mary was born in May 1766 in Switzerland, was baptised on 18 May 1766 in Fontaines Neuchâtel Canton Switzerland, died on 4 Jul 1840 at age 74, and was buried in Walworth Durham England.

         ii.  Mary RICKARDS [47969] was born on 31 Dec 1768 and died on 21 Dec 1800 at age 31. Mary married FARMER [93874].

2       iii.  John William RICKARDS [47963] (born on 10 Aug 1772 in London England - died in Aug 1831 in Colchester Essex England). John married Mary SELBY [47964] on 21 May 1797 in St Mary's Marylebone London England. Mary was born about 1776, died in May 1828 in Colchester Essex England aged about 52, and was buried on 28 May 1828 in Colchester Essex England. John next married UNKNOWN [121564] on 21 May 1797 in St Marylebone Middlesex England.

         iv.  William RICKARDS [47970] was born on 18 Dec 1774 and died on 18 Feb 1813 at age 38. William married Elizabeth [93872].

          v.  Elizabeth RICKARDS [47971] was born on 6 Jan 1776 and died on 23 Aug 1816 at age 40.

         vi.  James RICKARDS [121565] was born on 24 Jul 1780 in London England.

        vii.  Louisa RICKARDS [47972] was born on 28 Mar 1782 in London Middlesex England and died in Apr 1870 in Chelsea Middlesex England at age 88. Louisa married Robert BETTY [47973] on 6 May 1803 in St Marylebone Middlesex England. Robert died about 1805. Louisa next married John BRYON [121566] on 15 May 1821 in Paris Isle-de-France France. John was born about 1776 and died about 1841 in Paris Isle-de-France France aged about 65.

       viii.  Joseph RICKARDS [47974] was born on 21 Feb 1787. Joseph married Elizabeth [47975] in 1813 in Messina Sicily. Elizabeth died after 1845.

         ix.  Sarah Susannah RICKARDS [121567] was born on 21 Jul 1788 in London Middlesex England.

5. Mary ALDER [47966] was born on 24 Oct 1743 and died on 17 Sep 1816 in Westminster Middlesex England at age 72.

In the will of Prideaux Selby dated 1807 in Upper Canada - he left everything to his 3 living children, in equal shares, naming Mary Rickards of Colchester England. His wife Elizabeth never came to Upper Canada and died in England.

         ii.  Elizabeth SELBY [92152] was born about 1774 and died about 1845 aged about 71. Elizabeth married Lieut. Col. William DERENZY [92154] on 8 Feb 1813 in York Toronto Upper Canada. William died about 1840.

3       iii.  Mary SELBY [47964] (born about 1776 - died in May 1828 in Colchester Essex England). Mary married John William RICKARDS [47963] on 21 May 1797 in St Mary's Marylebone London England. John was born on 10 Aug 1772 in London England and died in Aug 1831 in Colchester Essex England at age 59.

         iv.  Prideaux SELBY of Maidenhead [92153] was born in 1780 and died on 22 Jun 1829 in Maidenhead Berkshire England at age 49. Prideaux married Mary BEAUMONT [120485] on 16 Jan 1802 in St Andrew's by the Wardrobe London England. Mary was born on 9 Sep 1777 in Walthamstow Essex England, was baptised on 4 Oct 1777, and died on 6 Aug 1854 at age 76.
