8. Col. Sydney Long JACOB, son of Maj.Gen'l Herbert JACOB [120853] and Mary DUNSTAVILLE [120854], was born in Jul 1845 and died in Jun 1911 in Highbury Hill Middlesex England at age 65.

General Notes: In a Document received from Philip Jacob in April 2021, he stated that,
Sydney was a Colonel in the Royal Engineers responsible for building Canals in the Punjab, which was then India.

Noted events in his life were:

• Military Service: a Colonel in the Royal Engineers.

Sydney married Elizabeth Petronella SELBY [120480]. Elizabeth was born on 12 Sep 1841 and died on 17 Jan 1910 in Cawnpore Uttar Pradesh India at age 68.

Children from this marriage were:

          i.  Eveline Mary JACOB [121089] was born in 1871 in Madhapur Uttar Pradesh India and died in May 1954 at age 83.

         ii.  Gertrude Petronella JACOB [120508] was born on 16 Oct 1876 and died on 18 May 1965 at age 88.

4       iii.  Sydney Montague JACOB [120482] (born in 1879 in India - died in 1977)

         iv.  Alexis JACOB [121097] was born in 1882 and died in May 1959 at age 77.

          v.  Grace Dunstaville JACOB [121098] was born in 1886 and died in 1917 at age 31.

         vi.  Edith Rose JACOB [121100] was born in 1888 and died in 1967 at age 79.

9. Elizabeth Petronella SELBY, daughter of Henry Collingwood SELBY [120479] and Elizabeth Petronella HURLING [120502], was born on 12 Sep 1841 and died on 17 Jan 1910 in Cawnpore Uttar Pradesh India at age 68.

Elizabeth married Col. Sydney Long JACOB [120481]. Sydney was born in Jul 1845 and died in Jun 1911 in Highbury Hill Middlesex England at age 65.
