At this time he is shown as an Ironmonger employing Five Men and a Boy; and with 2 Female Servants By the 1861 Census Thomas is deceased. His Widow, Thomas, Ellen, Emily, Jane and 2 Female Servants, Susan Dean and Ruth Thurley live with them. The Rev. Bulmer, a Dissenting Minister was visiting at the time. Eliza is shown as an Ironmonger, so is apparently still running the Business.

In an email, dated October 13, 2002, Anthony Bishop stated that Thomas lived at a Reisdence in Robin hood Yard in1841; and later had a shop in Bridge Street, which is still a Hardware Shop.
